Poplars Day Nursery
Since 1993, we have developed an outstanding reputation based on our unique approach to providing care and education for babies, toddlers and pre-school children between the ages of 12 weeks and 6 years.
The Poplars Process ensures that your baby/child is safe, secure and well cared for throughout their time at our day nurseries and embraces the Human Scale Ethos, in creating a small, family friendly learning environment. We have proven that our small groups develop a sense of belonging for your family. This reassures you when leaving your child with us for the first time, and allows for more effective communication. Communication continues to build as our dedicated and caring staff bring out the best in your child. This means that they enjoy their early childhood and you can leave them with peace of mind.
At both Poplars Nurseries, we invest in the personal and professional development of each member of staff. A higher ratio of staff is employed so there is no need for supply staff. This ensures quality care and education for your child is maintained. As we are a learning environment, we employee staff that work towards a recognised childcare qualification. We do not deem NVQ Level 2 as qualified, and staff must work towards NVQ Level 3 as a minimum. The number of qualified staff exceeds the legal requirements. In addition, all of our staff members receive in-house training in carrying out the Poplars Process for each group and attend further training in, for example, first aid and safeguarding. This gives consistency and continuity for your child.
Our dedicated team will plan fun and exciting activities set at the right level for your child. Outside care has been taken to preserve the natural surroundings, which successfully encourages wildlife. The children enjoy safe gardens, a small copse and their own garden area for digging and planting herbs, potatoes, tomatoes and much more. The children successfully grow herbs, potatoes and tomatoes. A separate, enclosed playground provides a soft surface that is used for ball games and more active equipment such as bicycles.
Inside, topics provide new, exciting activities with a sensory level for babies, an imaginative approach for toddlers and a reasoning approach for the pre-school. By taking the care to provide challenging but fun environments, your child will develop and learn new skills that will prepare them for their next steps into school.
Working with small groups of children helps staff to observe your child in depth and to give them the right input at the right time so that they realise their potential. A key worker tracks your child's progress in a unique development book that is shared regularly with you.
One of the most important aspects of our approach is the continual communication and sharing of information with parents and carers. The more parents become involved with what we do and show an interest in our nursery and the development of their children, the more we learn about each child as an individual. It also ensures that you get a thorough insight into our nurseries so that you can trust that we care for your child in such a positive unique manner that encourages their development. We encourage you to tell us of any concerns so that we can improve our service to you and your child.
